This position is responsible to oversee human resources functions related to resourcing, staff welfare, compensation and benefits and industrial relations for the Institute.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Managerial / Supervisory/ Operational
- Develop and implement HR strategic plan in line with the institute overall strategy to support the institution to achieve its mandate.
- Lead the recruitment of all staff, selection and placement including that of consultants and lecturers to ensure that the Institute acquires the right skills required.
- Develop and implement Learning and development programs for all the KIM staff to enhance their growth and productivity
- Implement the institute performance management policy including the setting of departmental objectives, monitoring and the annual performance appraisal to ensure that staff achieve set targets and dedicated calls.
- Maintain sound industrial relations and speedy resolution of individual and collective grievances both internally and externally to ensure that staff issues have been handled successfully and be able to contribute the motivation and maintain staff satisfaction and advice the institute on matter related to compliance to with labor laws and other related regulations.
- Oversee staff insurance policies including medical schemes within the approved limits and follow up of claims arising thereof (medical, GPA, GLA and assets insurance).
- Supervise the development and implementation of staff welfare strategy including the general well-being of the staff (KIMSWA, Talks & Wellness).
- Prepare and facilitate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with all the international and national labor standards and maintain a high profile of health safety and environment standards in line with health and safety Act (OSHA, First Aid & Security).
- Responsible for monthly checking through payroll before approval by the Executive director.
- Approve payment of Casual staff to ensure accuracy of the payment amounts and days worked.
- Coordinate weekly and monthly staff sharing forums to ensure sharing of information regarding the Institute's current state of affairs.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Must have at least Eight (8) years’ experience in a large organisation in an active commercial environment
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources or any other related field
- Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource
- Practicing Certificate from IHRM
